We Like The Convenience – Good Antivirus Software Review
Since I have relied on Norton products for over 20 years, I have kept up a yearly subscription with their Anti-Virus programming. This particular version I have used for several years with no problems or invasions into my system.
So if you scan at night, don’t use sleep mode (select never). I got this for $30 which is good and hassle free compared to if I buy it from other stores which is more expensive. I did this over web chat. It did take 20 minutes to get to someone on a Saturday afternoon, but there was a time estimate and showed me my place in line.
They pretty much insist students use Avast or MacAfee. Everybody has an opinion, but I think it’s unfair to force students ditch a product they’ve already paid for! This is why I prefer Macs; you don’t have all this aggravation. I like Norton especially since they improved it. So, yeah, I’m glad I am still a loyal Norton customer. To anybody still shy after the top-heavy, occasionally clunky versions from, say 2004-2007, give NIS another try. Since 2010 Norton became my favorite security suite for my PC, and this one is no exception. I tested it on 3 different PC running XP Pro, Vista H.P.32bit and Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit.
I believe that these were false positives, but now I will never know. It would be good to have a removal tool that saved the history and quarantined files.
The UI is impressively easy to use. It’s still very fast light on resources, with an extremely good protection. I’m still waiting to see if a charge comes through on my credit card before I load my new. Other than the Norton trying to auto-renew me, the software kept me problem-free on both business laptops for all of 2010. For my Windows 7 Ultimate and Home machines, I use NIS. We have Core i7 and Core i3 processors with 8GB RAM running it, so I cannot make a resource comparison with NIS 2009. Man read my problem asked for permission to take control of my computer and then started trouble shooting. Could not find any problem so down-loaded and installed program from his site.
After running the first Deep Scan, it found and fixed numerous problems. It even found a virus that had disabled my DVD/CD drive and corrected it. The program provides many tools that enable the user to insure the integrity of the computer and the network. Most importantly it does not slow now the performance of your computer. It is hard for me to try another brand. We have used Norton Internet Security for all our computers for a number of years.
I visited a site just yesterday that was trying to run some sort of faux “security scan” script and Norton stopped it dead in its tracks. OFFICE FURNITURE AUCTIONS.
